Gallup: Support for Gun Control Down 13 Percent Since 2000

A Gallup Poll released Friday shows that support for stricter gun laws has declined thirteen percent in the past thirteen years. 

According to Gallup, 62 percent of American supported stricter gun laws in 2000, but that number has fallen to 49 percent.

The number fell even lower than 49 in 2011 and 2012, only to jump to 58 after the heinous crime at Sandy Hook Elementary. It has been in decline ever since. 

Gallup shows that 30 percent of Americans believe the laws should be kept as they are, and thirteen percent believe some gun laws should be loosened or repealed. The number who believe laws should be loosened or repealed has jumped seven percent since Sandy Hook.
