Beretta Pulls Up Stakes: Will Move All Manufacturing from Maryland to Tennessee

On January 29 Breitbart News reported that Beretta USA had chosen Gallatin, Tennessee as the location for its newest factory. At that time, the designated purpose of the factory was for the manufacturing of new product lines.

However, on July 22 Beretta announced they were broadening the move to Tennessee, so as to transplant all “[their] manufacturing capabilities” from Maryland.

Beretta pointed to Maryland’s excessive gun control as the reason behind the expanded move. They specifically cited the new rules and regulations contained in Maryland’s Firearm Safety Act of 2103 as a driving force behind the decision.

In their press release, Beretta explained that the “Tennessee facility [was originally] for new machinery and production of new products only.” But as the company studied the ramifications of the Firearm Safety Act they realized they would be “prohibited…from being able to manufacture, store or even import into the State products that [they] sell to customers throughout the United States and around the world.”

In light of this they “decided…it was more prudent from the point of view of [their] future welfare to move the Maryland production lines in their entirety to the new Tennessee facility.”
