Conservative icon and talk radio host Rush Limbaugh said Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) has emerged as the “biggest enemy” of the mainstream media and the open-borders and pro-amnesty activists on the illegal immigration issue.
“What Jeff Sessions is doing is what the Republican Party at large should be doing, Limbaugh said on his Wednesday radio show. “He went to the floor of the Senate, and he described the administration as lawless, said that they are engaging in lawless behavior.” Limbaugh said that the mainstream media “are all over this guy like he is the reincarnation of Jabba the Hutt” and he is now their “biggest enemy.”
“They just can’t believe he would dare call the president of the United States lawless because of this immigration policy, and the threat that Obama will — just with a stroke of his pen — grant amnesty to five or six million of the 11 million that were here,” Limbaugh said.
Limbaugh blasted Republicans, particularly House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH), for surrendering, not knowing what “high crimes and misdemeanors” are, and taking impeachment off the table. Limbaugh, though, did not favor going all-in on impeachment at this time. Instead, Limbaugh said that “impeachment is the last thing that happens in a process that ought to be happening — and what ought to be happening is being led by Jeff Sessions.”
Sessions has been the staunchest opponent of amnesty legislation in Congress since the Senate started debating the Gang of Eight’s comprehensive amnesty bill last year. He and his staff have worked feverishly to debunk talking points from open-borders advocates and defend American workers of all backgrounds, whose wages would be lowered with massive amnesty legislation and guest-worker permits to illegal immigrants.
This week, Sessions said Congress faces a “critical” hour when it comes to the separation of powers of the country and urged his colleagues to vote for legislation that would prevent Obama from spending any federal funds enacting more temporary amnesty and “nullifying” federal immigration laws.
“Our response now is of great import,” Sessions said on the Senate floor. “It will define the scope of executive and congressional powers for years to come. If President Obama is not stopped in this action, and he exceeds his powers by attempting to execute such a massive amnesty contrary to law, the moral authority for any immigration henceforth will be eviscerated.”
Sessions said there is “no middle ground” on such lawlessness, and Americans will not “will not accept nullification of their laws passed by their elected Representatives.”
