'No Longer Running' – Mark Begich Backs Down on Lisa Murkowski Ad

Last night in Alaska, Sen. Mark Begich backed down on his fight with fellow Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski over a campaign ad featuring a photo of them together.

During a debate on Alaska’s KTUU station, Sullivan challenged Begich for ignoring Murkowski’s cease-and-desist letter.

In a previous debate, Begich said that Murkowski wanted him to take down the ad just because she “didn’t like the photo.”

Murkowski reacted by calling Begich’s comment “offensive.”

“I think it’s important that people understand that no means no,” she added.

“Why didn’t you respect Sen. Murkowsi’s wishes and take down the ad?” Sullivan repeatedly asked Begich during the debate. He added, “She found that to be rather demeaning and I would agree with that.”

The audience laughed as an awkward silence followed.

During his answer, Begich backed down, admitting that the Murkowski ad was “no longer running,” but he refused to say whether or not he would pull the ad.

Instead, Begich clung to his record of voting with Murkowski, even though she has endorsed Sullivan in the upcoming election.
