Ice Cube Says His Sore Loser Response to MTV Award Snub Was a 'Joke'

Ice Cube used Twitter this week to defend himself against charges he acted like a sore loser when his film Ride Along lost out on an MTV Movie Award.

The entertainer insists he was just joking, and he blasted the press for taking his “joke” to an illogical conclusion.

The late Paul Walker and Vin Diesel were honored Sunday night by MTV for Best On-screen Duo for their film Fast & Furious 6.

Cube, who co-starred with Kevin Hart in the sleeper comedy hit Ride Along earlier this year, told the USA Today his film “was robbed.”

Shame on you MTV.”

The best screen duo award ended up going going to Vin Diesel and the late Paul Walker for Fast & Furious 6. Ice Cube calls it a “sympathy” vote by fans, who chose the winners.

“We had the best chemistry of everybody nominated, for us not to win was crazy,” says Ice Cube of his role with Hart. “We were the best onscreen duo, period.”

“They should have gave it to him before he passed away,” Ice Cube says of Walker, who died in November 2013.

He used his Twitter account Monday night to defend himself and tell his followers he was merely joking about being upset.

Before the event, Cube sent out this tweet about the upcoming awards show
