'Cuddlr': Social Meeting App for Spooning with Strangers

A location-based social-meeting application called “Cuddlr” allows you to rendezvous with total strangers who want to cuddle.

The creator claims there is nothing sexual in nature about this program and that no one will use the application for anything other than “platonic cuddling.”

Believe it or not, the idea first came about as a joke, but founder Charles Williams soon decided that “there was a real need for this.”

“We’re not getting the right type of contact often enough; we don’t give and get enough hugs. Hooking up is certainly not always a bad thing, but there’s definitely an under-explored time and a place for more gentle, no pressure intimacy, and that’s what Cuddlr aims to help with,” he explained.

Apparently, the entire process is user-friendly, as it finds the closest cuddlers within walking distance. The app will then share personal details such as first names, profile pictures, and any past problematic cuddles.

If both parties are interested, they simply tap a button to request a cuddle and then they can send quick messages back and forth like “let’s meet at the park” or “I’m wearing a green shirt.”

The application provides guided walking directions to prospective cuddlers, and you can give a “thumbs up” if the cuddle ends well.
