Salem Radio network has announced that KRLA AM 870 The Answer in Los Angeles and KTIE AM 590 The Answer in Orange County have a new pair of hosts joining Heidi Harris in the 6 to 9 a.m. slot: Breitbart News Editor-at-Large Ben Shapiro and veteran host and voice talent Brian Whitman.
Salem VP Director/Spoken Word Format Phil Boyce said:
"We're committed to providing L.A.'s morning commuters with a show that informs, entertains and makes them want to stay in the car once they get into the parking lot at work. We think that Heidi, Brian and Ben create a unique mix for L.A. that will do just that. Creating an on-air radio team is tricky, but these guys all developed chemistry and camaraderie instantly. You would think they had been on the air for years together. Heidi continues to drive the bus on the air, and the guys seem to bring out the best of her many talents."
Chuck Tyler, KRLA’s general manager, said:
“When we threw these three people together we honestly weren't sure what would happen, but we knew that each of them brought a unique and important element to the mix and after testing for two weeks on the air we realized that something very special was coming out of the speakers."
Shapiro, who attended UCLA at 16 and then graduated from Harvard Law School, has written four books and was the youngest national columnist in the country when he was 17. He was thrilled at the opportunity:
“It's a true honor and pleasure to join the unbelievably talented and fun Heidi Harris on KRLA mornings. As a lifelong Angeleno, I grew up listening to KRLA, and to get a chance to sit behind the mics alongside Heidi and Brian is a dream come true."
“I am so excited to be returning to the radio on a daily basis in Los Angeles. I'm thrilled to team up with Heidi Harris and Ben Shapiro. They are both total pros. We do a smart, funny, issue oriented morning show for Southern California."
Harris was also pleased: “Brian and Ben are passionate about radio, and both bring a variety of life experiences to the show. It's great to have them."
