Ratings: Fox News Crushes CNN, MSNBC During Ukraine Crisis

By nearly 3-to-1 margins, Fox News crushed CNN on Thursday, one of the biggest breaking news days of the year that saw a passenger plane shot down over Ukraine and Israeli troops move into Gaza. The Ukraine news broke a little before noon Eastern time, and the result was America once again tuning to Fox News in droves.

CNN, the network that used to benefit most from breaking news, came in a distant second.

MSNBC was simply humiliated.

In total day viewers, Fox earned 1,513 million, compared to CNN and MSNBC, who drew 699 thousand and 379 thousand, respectively.

In primetime viewership the gap was even wider. Fox earned a stunning 3,081million viewers, compared to CNN’s 1,222 million and MSNBC’s 826 thousand.

Viewership in the 25-54 age demo was much closer.

TV By the Numbers reports that both “The Kelly File” and “Hannity” hit all-time viewership highs. “Special Report with Bret Baier” earned its best numbers this year.
