Trust in Media Returns to All-Time Low

Per Gallup, after a short-term bump to 44% last year, trust in the media to report “the news fully, accurately, and fairly” has plummeted back to an all-time low of 40%

With fits and starts, the downward trend since Gallup began taking the poll in 1997 is obvious. It’s been nine years since the media enjoyed the trust of 50%. Back in 1999, it was 55%.

There’s just no question that the media has had another awful year. One of 2014’s biggest stories, the shooting of Michael Brown by a Ferguson police officer, was yet another media debacle on the scale of the George Zimmerman trial. Even a majority of black St. Louis residents believe the race-baiting media made things worse.

Now we have the NFL scandal, which is a legitimate story, but the sanctimonious moral preening throughout the elite media has been nauseating to watch.
