Obama Cozies Up to the Press Off the Record

As Air Force One refueled in Hawaii, President Obama spoke with members of the media on the way home from his trip to Asia.

According to the White House travel pool, Obama spoke to them for 20-25 minutes on the tarmac at the Hickam Air Base, but it was off the record.

Earlier, members of the White House Press corp grilled the president on his planned executive action on immigration reform, the Keystone pipeline, Jonathan Gruber’s controversial comments, and the fight against ISIS at the president’s G-20 press conference.

The news of the off-the-record session angered National Journal writer Ron Fournier, who fired back a response on Twitter.
