In Dec. 2008, the MSM was rejoicing over the fact that someone threw a shoe at George W. Bush as he gave a speech in Iraq. Liberals all over the world over seized on that moment to prove two points. First, that the Iraqis wanted the U.S. to leave the country and secondly, that Bush had allegedly ruined America's image abroad. Ironically, Obama had made the same two points over and over during his successful bid for the presidency that same year.
Four years later, there seems to be a greater decline in our prestige abroad: Egyptians not only threw shoes at the motorcade carrying Sec. of State Clinton's aides on Sunday, they also threw tomatoes.
Hope and change hasn't gone over very well with the Islamists.
And the great irony is that Sec. Clinton and Pres. Obama have given the Islamists everything they could want. Obama ended the "dumb war" in Iraq, whittled the American force in Afghanistan down considerably, used the U.S. military (and U.S. tax dollars) to get rid of Gaddafi, thus clearing the way for the Islamists. He also leaned heavily on former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, so that he would get out of the way too.
Now we have Islamists running Egypt, and Sec. Clinton went there to tell the Egyptian military that they need to support the Islamists as well.
And what do we get in return? Shoes and tomatoes.
