Man Arrested At John Wayne Airport Allegedly En Route To Join ISIS

On July 2, the FBI arrested 22-year-old Orange Country resident Adam Dandach on suspicion that he was traveling to Syria to joint the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

According CBS Los Angeles, Dandach told investigators was traveling to join ISIS and that he the killing “of U.S. soldiers are justified killings.”

Dandach drew attention when he asked for “an replacement [of his] passport in June.” He said he had accidentally thrown his passport in the trash while cleaning.

However, authorities learned Dandach’s mother did not want him to join ISIS, and had thrown his passport away. She also took the money her son had saved for the trip so he could not afford his travel.

On July 16, Dandach was indicted for lying in his passport application. His next hearing is July 21.
