On July 24, two gunmen killed two female Christian aid workers in Herat, Afghanistan.
The Tribune Express reported that the governor of Herat province, Sayed Fazullah Wahidy, told AFP: “At around 11:30 a.m. gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire at two foreigners riding in a taxi and killed them.”
The women were Finnish, and were working with the International Assistance Mission (IAM).
According to BBC News, the “IAM has operated in Afghanistan since 1966, and the Taliban have in the past accused its workers of being ‘Christian missionaries.'” IAM has denied the claim.
IAM is “in the process of informing relatives, friends, Afghan and international colleagues” about the womens’ deaths.
