Oklahoma Man Needs Three Months to Cancel Obamacare Plan

NBC KJRH in Tulsa, Oklahoma reported on the story of David Emanuel, who tried to cancel his plan with Blue Cross Blue Shield and was delayed for three months by healthcare.gov. According to KJRH, Emanuel tried to cancel his plan with Blue Cross after he became eligible for Medicare, and was told that they could not do anything until healthcare.gov said he had cancelled his plan. When Emanuel tried to call the sites, “healthcare.gov went into a coma” he said.

Emanuel showed KJRH records showing he waited 131 and 126 minutes trying to get through. Ultimately, it took three months to cancel his policy. During that time period, his wife’s insurance was cut off, and he had to pay unnecessary premiums on their joint policy.
