Brown Family Attorney: Brown's Shooting 'Not About Race'

Daryl Parks, one of the attorneys for the family of Mike Brown, who was killed by a police officer in Ferguson, MO earlier this month, spoke about the shooting, and declared “it’s not about race” on Wednesday’s “Sean Hannity Show.”

“What happens is people sometimes take it and interpret their own viewpoint. For example, I think Ferguson, really … is about the mentality of some law enforcement, not all law enforcement officers, some law enforcement officers.  It just so happened that the shooter is a white male, and the victim is a black young man, and so there are certain people who will take their own interpretations of that,” he said.

Parks also defended Rev. Al Sharpton from criticisms that he does not speak up about black-on-black crime.  He further argued that there are problems with racial profiling, stating, “The numbers of blacks and certain minorities who are stopped on our highways, and who gets searched, those are numbers we have to have … I travel up and down the highways in the South, I see tons of people being stopped disproportionately.”
