The Hill Editor-in-Chief: Some in Intel Community Frustrated with Obama

Bob Cusack, Editor-in-Chief of The Hill, argued that a report by Fox News that President Barack Obama received briefings on ISIS a year ago showed that “some frustration” with Obama in the intelligence communityon Tuesday’s “America’s Newsroom” on the Fox News Channel.

“The White House has basically been pointing at the intel community for not being on top of ISIS, having wrong information, and now we’re having the intel community point its finger back at the White House,” he said.

Cusack added that a line from the report from a former Pentagon official that reads, “‘[We] were ready to fire, on a moment’s notice, on a couple hundred targets,’ but no order was given” showed there is “some frustration from the people that are working at these targets, and coming up with these targets.” And “plays into the narrative that this White House has been too cautious on foreign policy.”

He also stated that the report raises the question of “why the president called ISIS a JV [team] and downplayed their threat to the United States and around the world.”
