ABC's Karl Unconvinced By WH Claim Gross Release not a Spy Swap

Wednesday at the White House press briefing, ABC News chief White House correspondent Jonathan Karl expressed his disbelief as press secretary Josh Earnest attempted to claim Cuba’s release of the American prisoner Alan Gross was a “humanitarian release at the request of the administration” and unrelated to the Untied States release of three convicted spies.

Karl asked, “You are not going to stand here and say that Alan Gross release had nothing to do with the release, at the same time, of three convicted Cuban spies,” adding, “This is all part of the same deal … You can’t say the Alan Gross’ release is unrelated to the release of these three spies.”

“Yes I am,” Earnest replied.

“Really?” Karl said.
