Obamacare Reduced Texas Uninsured Rate by Less than 2 Percent

A new analysis by WalletHub.com finds that Obamacare has reduced the number of uninsured Texans by less than 2 percent.

The study, which was based on data from Kaiser Family Foundation and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, found that prior to Obamacare’s implementation, 26.8 percent of Texans were uninsured. Today that rate stands at 24.81 percent, a reduction of just 1.99 percent.

Texas was not alone in experiencing minimal reductions in the number of uninsured citizens. Nationally, the study found that the post-Obamacare rate of uninsured Americans has fallen roughly 3 percent.

Obamacare’s failure to meet its purported goal of reducing the rate of the uninsured is a function of the fact that many who enrolled in the program already had insurance and were simply among the millions who had their health insurance plans canceled. As Breitbart News reported in May, a McKinsey & Co. report found that 74 percent of Obamacare enrollees already had insurance.

Obamacare will cost U.S. taxpayers $2.6 trillion over the next 10 years.
